Host Cities of the Paralympic Games in 2010, 2012 and 2014

The Paralympics have been held in the same city as the main Olympic Games since the
1988 Paralympic Games in Seoul Korea and the 1992 Winter Paralympic Games in Albertville, France. In 2001 the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee signed an agreement to continue the practice of selecting using the same host city for both the Olympics and Paralympics. The Paralympics host cities for 2010 through 2004 are:
  • 2010 Winter Paralympics: Vancouver, Canada
  • 2012 Summer Paralympics: London, England, UK
  • 2014 Winter Paralympics: Sochi, Krasnodar Krai, Russia
The Paralympics are elite sport event for athletes with disabilities, but the games definitely emphasize the participants' achievements rather then their disabilities. The first Paralympic Games took place in Rome in 1960 and today nearly 4000 athletes from over 140 countries participate in the event. For more information see the official Web site of the Paralympics Movement.
